Overview

Restoran Ceria, nestled in the heart of Shah Alam at 12, Jalan RU 3/9a, Seksyen 3, offers a culinary glimpse into Malaysian traditional flavors with a warm, unpretentious atmosphere. This restaurant serves as a welcoming spot for breakfast and casual meals, attracting locals and visitors eager to indulge in iconic Malaysian dishes.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng Cakoi, a dish that blends rich coconut-infused rice with crispy fried chicken and a sweet, anchovy-laden sambal. While the sambal tends toward the sweeter side—more so than typical Kelantanese versions—it complements the overall flavor well, making it a distinctive touch that defines Restoran Ceria’s identity. The chicken, freshly fried and crunchy, adds satisfying texture that keeps patrons coming back. Alongside, the traditional Kuih Cakoi stands out with its contrast of crunchy exterior and soft, warm inside, especially when freshly made and enjoyed dipped in sauce.

For fans of Malaysian breakfast staples, the restaurant’s roster includes classics like Roti Canai Sarang Burung, Roti Bom, and Lontong, each prepared with care to maintain authenticity. The Bakso, a savory Indonesian-inspired meatball soup, is noted among guests for its comforting and well-balanced flavor. While some reviewers have pointed to slight inconsistencies on occasion, such as a cakoi that felt a bit overcooked or variations in the roti, these moments appear infrequent and do not detract significantly from the experience.

Restoran Ceria’s appeal extends beyond its menu. Its setting, though modest and occasionally described as “a bit run down,” is kept clean and exudes a friendly, approachable vibe. Staff are known for their helpfulness and warmth, enhancing the casual dining experience. The bustling crowd and the small morning market nearby on weekends add to the charm, making it an engaging spot for locals and tourists alike who seek genuine Malaysian morning fare without pretense.

Located conveniently in Shah Alam, this restaurant targets those who appreciate traditional Malaysian cuisine served in a lively, community-centered environment. Whether you crave the comforting flavors of nasi lemak, the crispy allure of fried chicken, or the simple pleasure of freshly fried kuih cakoi, Restoran Ceria delivers an honest taste of Malaysia that’s worth exploring.

Those who like Nasi Lemak with sugar should opt this place. Nice flavour but too sweet...as sweet as nasi lemak CIAST. sweeter than typical kelantanese nasi lomak. Their Bakso was good tho...

Went there for breakfast. Looks a bit run down from outside but quite clean. See my photos & videos to get a better feel. Quite a lot of people eating here. Tried the nasi lemak ayam goreng. It’s not the best i had, but ok. The chicken was freshly fried, nice & crispy. Tried the kuih chakoy. It was freshly fried. It was soo goodd. Crunchy outside, soft inside & warm. Plus dipped in the sauce, yumms! Must try it when its freshly fried. The staff here is also friendly & helpful. Good vibes.

"Nasi lemak sini lagi sedap daripada nasi lemak wanjo," said my wife. Went there today. Cakoinya agak gosong. Usually fluffy. Maybe just not today. Roti telur mantap, roti kosong is a little bit... Not sure how to describe it. For today's meal, I have to deduct 1 star due to inconsistency.

Good place to get Cakoi for breakfast. The waiter is very efficient and fast. The price for Nasi Lemak a bit high and the taste of the rice not that good. But the Sambal is great.

I love to buy their Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng and Kuih Cakoi with Kaya. Price: RM3 for Nasi Lemak Kosong, RM1 for each piece of Kuih Cakoi. Roti Canai is better to eat at the restaurant rather than bringing home. Their Roti Canai is crispy and their sambal is superb. I've been enjoying their food since I was a child and now I'm a grown up. Definitely worth the meal. Parking can be a hassle during weekends but weekdays is pretty okay. Their seating is using plastic chairs and plastic tables. There's outdoor and under the roof areas. Recommended to use cash only. There's no QR pay or card payment option seen at the cashier. You can read the menu and pricing at the cashier. All food are self service, no table service.
